The Fossil

This impressive fossil was discovered in the year 1977 accidentally by a local farmer who tilled the land for crops, it belongs to the family of the Pliosaurs, popularly called boyacensis kronosaurius with size of 12 meters long, 3 of them belonging to the head. It is the first fossil exhibited worldwide in-situ, according to paleontologists experts this fossil could be about 110 million years, and its seabed habitat was occupied at the time by Villa de Leyva and its surroundings. It is located in the village of Monquirá 5 km from the town of Villa de Leyva on the road to Santa Sofia. This museum you could also observe smaller fossils than this and Ammon among others.
